That is the credit meter, and it is not the only limit. Two services run on our servers: the relay and hosted monitoring. Those come with a paid plan. Everything that runs on your own machine or your own servers does not.
Credits are one limit.
Your plan is the other.
A credit is spent when an apply step changes your cloud. A plan is a different thing: it opens the two services we run on our own infrastructure. The split is simply whose machines the work happens on.

None of this needs a plan, a certificate, or a renewal. We put it in writing: see clause 4.3 of the EULA.
Needs a paid plan
- Relay. Brokers a connection to your server when a direct one is not available, and issues the certificate authorising it.
- Hosted monitoring. Our collector receives, stores, and serves the metrics your agents emit.
These run continuously whether or not you are working, so a subscription carries them. Credits do not, and neither do top-ups. Fair-use quotas apply; see clauses 6.1 and 6.3 of the Terms.

What exactly is a credit?
One apply step. Creating a server is one step. A plan with four operations costs four credits when you run it, and you read every step before anything runs.
What never costs credits?
Everything up to the moment of truth: the canvas, connecting nodes, diffs against your live cloud, the ordered plan, and your full version history.
What happens when I run out?
Your canvas and plans keep working. To apply again, wait for tomorrow's 100 free credits, top up at 1.000 ₫ per credit, or go unlimited with Monthly.
Does everything work on the Free plan?
Nearly. The application runs on your machine and Free does not hold it back: the whole canvas, every live provider, diffs, plans, version history, direct SSH to servers you control, and any telemetry collector you host yourself. Two things sit outside it, because they run on our servers rather than yours: the relay, and hosted monitoring.
Can I buy relay or hosted monitoring with credits?
No, and we would rather say so here than at checkout. Credits meter apply steps, which happen when you are at the keyboard. The relay and the hosted collector run every hour of every day whether you are working or not, so a plan carries them instead. Top-ups add credits and change nothing else.
When does a connection need the relay?
Only when a direct one is not possible. CrossXCloud always tries to reach your server directly, and a direct connection is free on every plan, forever. The relay exists for the cases a direct route cannot cross, such as a server behind NAT or a firewall you do not control, and it is the brokered connection that needs the plan.
